Stacie Durant, CPA joined Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority as their Chief Financial Officer in October 2013 after serving nearly ten years in various finance director positions finally being appointed in 2011 as Deputy Chief Financial Officer of Wayne County. Prior to her career in municipal finance, Stacie served for ten years in the assurance practice at the national accounting firm of KPMG, LLP (Detroit). Since coming to Authority, her responsibilities include the development and implementation of all financial policies and procedures for the newly formed entity with an annual budget of over $730 million. She has been characterized as ‘the lady with the iron fist in a velvet glove’.
Stacie is a graduate of Leadership Detroit (class XXXVI) through the Detroit Regional Chamber, was a finalist for the 2015 Crain’s CFO of Year Award and was recognized by the Michigan Chronicle as a “Woman of Excellence”. Stacie is also a graduate of the University of Michigan, licensed CPA in the State of Michigan and serves as a member of the MICPA Audit Task Force Committee.
The mission of the Department of Management and Budget (Finance) is to manage and accurately report the financial position of the Authority, to direct all financial transactions recorded in the accounting system, to develop and maintain financial policies and procedures, and reporting tools, and to support other department operations – in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable laws so they can have the information they need to make decisions and achieve their desired results.
